Information
Disc harrowing is one of the best and oldest practices of soil tillage to ensure the best preparation of soil. Best results are achieved with speeds between 12 and 15 km/h, so large areas can be covered very quickly, hence the term “high speed disc harrow”. Each disk arm has it’s own rubber suspension, so when a disk connects a rock or other hard surface, only that disc will climb over the obstacle and penetrate the soil again. a Disc harrow breaks up clods in the soil and surface crusts. It cultivates the soil very precisely and improves soil aeration. The roller will further break up clods and ensure excellent surface uniformity, ideal for any seedbed. It’s very effective for eliminating weeds and kills the already emerged weeds. The plant material on the surface is cut and mixed with the soil, causing an increase in microbiological activity, biodiversity, and organic matter.
Orbach’s range of heavy duty Metalfach disc harrows has proven to be excellent value for money. They feature some of the strongest frames available on the market and feature cutting edge technology. They come standard with heavy duty tubular rollers, manufactured locally by Orbach. The frames come with a standard 2 year warranty, and feature the SKF Agrihub bearing on each disc, also with a 2 year warranty. The shock absorbers are made of a specially formulated rubber compound that ensures a long work life.
Different widths are available from 2,5 to 7 m. The bigger implements can be used either on the lift or as trailed models with a draw bar and wheels. Lift models can always be changed later to a trailed model, they are compatible.
Working depth can be controlled accurately and precisely by adjusting the roller height the back, and the top link in front. Arms are made from Strenx steel and are 250 mm apart.
Typical uses:
- Stubble removal.
- Weed control.
- Seedbed preparation.
- Mixing fertilizer or lime into the soil after application.
